Pathways Counseling Center continues to expand to meet the rising demand for trauma-informed care for first responders and military personnel.
Our First Responder & Military Mental Health Program was built to serve those who serve others. We understand that police officers, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, veterans, and military members face unique challenges that require both cultural competence and clinical skill.
We are seeking a Licensed Psychotherapist to join our mission-driven team of professionals dedicated to promoting healing, resilience, and recovery.
Our Services
Pathways offers trauma-informed, evidence-based mental health services tailored to the unique needs of first responders and military professionals, including:
- Individual Talk Therapy
- Couples Therapy
- Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
- Group Therapy & Peer Support
- Critical Incident Debriefing
Position Overview
This is an independent contractor position—not a salaried or benefits-eligible role.

Our ideal candidate is a licensed therapist passionate about providing compassionate, confidential care to first responders and military personnel, combining clinical excellence with cultural understanding.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide psychotherapy to adults (18+) through telehealth and/or in-person sessions at our St. Paul office.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments as needed.
- Attend monthly professional meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the EHR system.
Contract Details & Compensation
- Independent Contractor status: paid time off and health insurance are not provided.
- Flexibility: Create your own schedule and choose your preferred balance of telehealth and in-person sessions.
- Commitment: Minimum one-year contract.
- Caseload: 20+ sessions per week (option to expand).
- Compensation: Flat-rate reimbursement per psychotherapy and assessment service, plus travel reimbursement (if applicable).
- Bonuses: Hiring, mid-year, and end-of-year bonuses available.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work.
- Current licensure as LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, or LP (required).
- Experience working with trauma, crisis response, or first responder/military populations (preferred).

- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Additional Requirements
- Active professional liability insurance.
- Laptop and secure internet connection.
- Minimum two years of sobriety.
- No record of felony or gross misdemeanor.
