LGBTQIA+ Program – Clinical Trainee (Therapist Pursuing Licensure)
Pathways Counseling Center, Inc
Reports to: Jen Reddig, Director of the LGBTQIA+ Program
Location: Hybrid – St. Paul, MN / Telehealth (Remote)
About Pathways Counseling Center
Pathways Counseling Center is growing and expanding to meet the increasing demand for high-quality, affirming mental health care.
Our LGBTQIA+ Program, led by Director Jen Reddig, LMFT, provides compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed therapy for individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community. We are proud to create a space where clients can bring their full selves and where clinicians can grow both personally and professionally in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
We are seeking a Clinical Trainee (pursuing licensure) who is passionate about serving the LGBTQIA+ community and eager to grow as part of a collaborative and affirming team.
Who We Support
We welcome LGBTQIA+ adults and family members seeking to better support their loved ones.
What We Offer
We provide individual therapy via telehealth or in-person sessions at our Saint Paul office.
Our specialties include:
- Trauma recovery
- Emotion regulation
- Self-compassion
- Diverse relationship structures
What Makes Us Unique
We specialize in supporting clients at the intersection of LGBTQIA+ identity and neurodivergence.
Many neurodivergent individuals face challenges finding therapists who truly understand the complexity of their identities and lived experiences.
Our team values authenticity, curiosity, and trust. We listen without judgment, honor each person’s story, and celebrate the ongoing journey of self-discovery.
Some of our providers share these identities themselves, allowing us to connect with clients in deeper, more meaningful ways.
Why Inclusive Care Matters
LGBTQIA+ adults face unique mental health challenges—and we’re here to help.
Research shows that:
- Lesbian, gay, and bisexual adults are over twice as likely to experience mental health issues compared to heterosexual adults. (SAMHSA, 2016)
- Transgender adults are nearly four times more likely to face mental health struggles than their cisgender peers. (Transgender Health, 2019)
These disparities often stem from identity exploration, family rejection, and unsupportive environments. That’s why affirming, culturally responsive care is essential.
We believe every person deserves a therapist who understands their lived experience and offers compassionate, competent support. Our team is committed to creating a safe space where healing and self-discovery can thrive.
